Osteopathy is a gentle form of manual therapy applied to various areas of the body that aims to address asymmetry, restrictions of motion and changes to
tissue texture that may be present.
The core intention is to harmonize the body’s musculoskeletal, nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems in order to help restore mobility and function, decrease pain and facilitate health within the body thereby improving quality of life.

Osteopathy is based upon the principles that the
body is a unit, structure and function are reciprocally interrelated and that the body has a natural ability to regulate and heal itself. The role of the osteopathic practitioner is to help facilitate changes in the body by removing any restrictions present within the tissues of the body. An osteopathic practitioner may also provide healthy lifestyle recommendations such as exercises or education on sleep hygiene and stress management.

Ashley completed undergraduate studies in Kinesiology and Health Sciences at York University with a specialization in advanced fitness assessment and exercise prescription. Shortly after, she gained invaluable experience as a clinical research project coordinator at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and then went on to work on a global phase III clinical trial at Population Health Research Institute at Hamilton Health Sciences. However, a passion for helping clients 1-1 led to working as an independent personal trainer and health coach for individuals 40+ with chronic health conditions. It was during this time that Ashley decided to pursue a career in osteopathy. While in osteopathy school, Ashley facilitated the Cancer Exercise program at Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation and the YMCA of Oakville. Following graduation, Ashley has worked alongside other manual therapists in multi-disciplinary clinic settings until deciding to open her own independent practice in downtown Burlington. Continued areas of interest and study include the neuroscience of chronic pain and the clinical application of poly-vagal theory.

Ashley recognizes the bidirectional relationship that exists between the body and mind and the need for a comprehensive approach that addresses both in a client-centred collaborative way. The primary focus of her practice is assisting with a wide range of mind-body driven conditions such as chronic musculoskeletal pain, headache/migraines, IBS, TMJ, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgia.

By combining traditional osteopathic treatment with craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation, exercise prescription and evidence-based education and coaching methods, Ashley offers a unique blend of tools that empower her clients to be active participants in their own recovery process on their journey towards better health.

Ashley is a member in good standing with the Ontario Osteopathic Association and Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology.
